Ambulance Benefit

 If a Member is subscribed to the SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) membership scheme and has used the service, they may be eligible for a refund of their SAAS subscription for the year the service was used — subject to providing proof of use.

Death Benefit

A benefit of $5,000 may be payable upon the death of a Full Member or their spouse.
 
In the event of a Member’s passing, the payment may be made to their spouse, nominated dependent, or legal personal representative, as determined by the Board.
 
If a Member’s spouse passes away, the benefit is paid directly to the Member.
 
Please note, this spouse benefit is a one-time payment during the Member’s lifetime.

Funeral Benefit

A benefit of $5,000 may be payable upon the death of a Full Member or their spouse.
 
In the event of a Member’s passing, the payment may be made to their spouse, nominated dependent, or legal personal representative, as determined by the Board.
 
If a dependent child (under 21 years of age) of a Full Member passes away, a benefit of $4,500 may be paid to the Member.
 
Please note: the spouse benefit is a one-time payment during the lifetime of the Member.

Hospital Benefits

– Full Members with Health Fund
 
Available exclusively to Full Members with an approved health insurance policy through Health Partners or Bupa Australia, and who maintain continuous membership with the Fund.
If hospital accommodation costs result in an excess charge, the Fund may cover all or part of that excess—provided contributions are made through an approved payment method.
The amount covered will depend on the level of benefit approved by the Board at the time.

Sickness & Accident Benefit

This benefit is available to Full Members only.

In certain circumstances, Full Members who have used all their accumulated sick leave may be eligible to receive a fortnightly payment of $300 from the Fire Service Fund.
 
As the Fund is recognised by Centrelink as a Friendly Society, these payments are exempt from Centrelink’s Income Test Assessment.
Additional financial support may also be considered under this benefit, depending on individual circumstances. Additional financial assistance may be available under this benefit.

Skin Scan

Members and their spouses are eligible to claim a benefit for skin checks conducted by a recognised provider, such as a skin clinic or dermatologist.
 
You can claim up to $50 per scan, with a maximum of two claims per Member each year.
 

Wills/Power of Attorney Benefit

Members and their spouses can claim this benefit when having Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and/or Medical Powers of Attorney professionally prepared or reviewed.

The Fund will reimburse $100 per document, up to a maximum of $200 per Member.
 
This benefit is available once every five years.
 
However, if a surviving partner needs to update or amend a Will, the benefit is payable immediately.
